From now on, just typing in http://pugnaciousirishman.com (without the “wordpress” in there) will take you to my blog.
Question to all the blog traffic jedis out there: do I need to do a 301 redirect to make sure my hits aren’t being split between the two sites, or will they naturally still be grouped together?
I hope I don’t need to do one; it seems like a cumbersome process for a computer fool like me.
As I understand it a 301 redirect means you’ve permanently moved your website to that address. I don’t know precisely what it will do with your physical hits. I imagine that the .com address will almost immediately redirect a visitor to your wordpress.com address. You know what I recommend? Get some webspace and host your blog off of wordpress through your own hosting service. I have plenty of bandwidth and hard drive space to go around. Shoot me an e-mail.
