Julianne,
Yeah...we're in the same boat, looks like. Hang in there, it gets better.

PS--Jones' book has really helped me. I disagree with the man's behaviorism, but he's a genius when it comes to getting kids to behave.

Hi. I will have taught for one year in May and like you, I too had an illusion of grandeur when I stepped into my very first class. I thought that I was going to be the greatest and coolest teacher ever. And then of course the proverbial ton of bricks fell on me and now I agree with your statement about how teaching will take the little girl/boy outta ya. It's taxing sometimes having to deal with smart-alecs who have no desire to be in class or to learn and their sole purpose is to be as disruptive as possible.

Yep, I have some discipline problems in my classrooms that I can't seem to curb no matter what I do. I'm at a loss. I'm glad to have read this list. I hope to be able to put some things in practise and hopefully I'll be able to get some order restored in class. My sanity depends on that. Hahaha...

You make some good points above.
However, I also think that this can be helpful to you:
The book and Training Video: PREVENTING Classroom Discipline Problems

If you can get this book and video: [they are in many libraries, so you don't have to buy them] email me and I can refer you to the sections of the book and video [that demonstrates the effective vs. the ineffective teacher] that can help you.

If your library does not have them, you can get them at:

http://www.panix.com/~pro-ed/

that are also used at this online course:
www.ClassroomManagementOnline.com

See: Reviews at: http://classroommanagementonline.com/comteach.html

If you cannot get the book or video, email me anyway, and I will try to help.

Best regards,
